Kerry delivers truly innovative and cost-effective solutions to ease tablet manufacturing difficulties.
Whether your excipient application is to improve stability, add bulk or specialised delivery, Kerry has a product to suit your formulation needs.
We continue a reputation of excellence in providing GMP-compliant ingredients to the pharmaceutical industry. We are uniquely positioned and are a leading manufacturer of pharmaceutical-grade lactose excipients, functional excipients, tabletting systems, coatings, flavours, and emulsifiers for drug delivery systems.
Kerry delivers the industry’s most extensive lactose product line.
We provide a variety of standard particle sizes to meet our customers’ formulation needs, and have the technical capabilities to develop customised characteristics for any formulation.
Our range includes pharmaceutical grade crystalline monohydrate, spray dried monohydrate, anhydrous, and inhalation lactose – each in a variety of formats.
Lactose is an ideal excipient. It is chemically and physically inert to other excipients and active ingredients. Its characteristics are well understood, it is easy to store, cost effective and has low lot-to-lot variability.

Customised immediate release and enteric excipient solutions.
SheffCoat™ film coatings are pre-blended ready-to-use coatings that allow you to customise a film coating that is compatible with your API and regional regulatory requirements. SheffCoat’s properties include:
Kerry manufactures a line of functional excipients that are co-processed and designed for direct tableting operations for use in orally dissolving tablets or for use in tablets where a hard tablet with fast dissolution is desired.
Disintequik™ ODT is a co-processed excipient designed for use in orally dissolving tablets – i.e., designed to be dissolved on the tongue rather than swallowed whole.
An additional convenience is that the tablet can be taken without water. It can be blended with flavours, actives, lubricants or sweeteners if desired, and then directly compressed into tablets. Disintequik ODT is more fluid, more compressible, and produces tablets with higher breaking strength than other available ODT formulations on the market.
Disintequik™ are co-processed lactose/disintegrant excipients designed for use in tablets where a hard tablet with fast dissolution is desired. They are specially processed lactose-based co-excipients that result in tablets with a faster dissolution rate. The tablet hardness and friability are similar to that of pure lactose.
SheffCel™ is a multi-purpose excipient for pharmaceutical and nutritional supplement applications. It is widely used as a film former in aqueous film coatings as well as controlled release formulations.
We provide formulation, technical, regulatory, and quality support through every step of your development, scale-up, and production process. Expand your possibilities with SheffCel cellulose ethers.
SheffCel has a wide variety of applications. View an overview of SheffCel products or download the full portfolio.
Our understanding of flavour perception, consumer preferences throughout the world and extensive product knowledge, allows us to deliver customised flavour solutions for the full range of pharmaceutical and nutritional applications
Flavours provide product differentiation, enhancing consumer appeal and patient compliance. Our flavours and taste modulators can enhance the taste and sensorial aspects of cough syrups, improve the palatability of bitter APIs.
Kerry has been processing and supplying gum acacia into the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical markets for many years and is a significant supplier worldwide. Gum acacia has excellent compressibility and acts as a barrier to oxidation or moisture ingress – making it an ideal ingredient for tablets.
Kerry offers several grades of gum acacia that are used in excipient, tabletting, and vitamin emulsion applications.
The glycerides we manufacture have been produced for the pharmaceutical industry for over six decades. These products are produced using molecular distillation, a process that allows the separation and removal of impurities and by-products.
Emulsifiers are produced solely from vegetable sources for pharmaceutical applications including:
• modified release formulations
• tablet coating plasticiser
• lubricant and glidant
• transdermal patch layer
• topical permeation enhancement
• taste masking and stabiliser
• capsule finishing
