Kerry Ingredients & Flavours reflects customer and market demand with integrated solutions concepts at IFFA 2010

Hall 4.1 Stand G81 – Messe Frankfurt Exhibition Centre, Frankfurt am Main – 8-13 May, 2010

At IFFA 2010, Europe’s leading fair for the meat industry, Kerry Ingredients & Flavours will exhibit a range of concepts demonstrating how Kerry’s unique integration of technologies, application capabilities and product portfolio can help producers of meat products create consumer-preferred products faster and more cost-effectively, compared with the traditional approach of co-ordinating many different suppliers of single technologies.Another important benefit of this approach is addressing key consumer concerns over issues such as salt and fat reduction in an holistic and effective way. Five product concepts will be available at Kerry’s IFFA stand to illustrate what can be achieved by working this way.

The three below will be available for visitors to taste:

  • Schnitzel: a complete solution for manufacturers seeking to provide improved coating adhesion and increased crispiness. This concept responds to consumer desires for a quality product which is succulent inside and crispy outside.
  • Reduced Fat Pork Liver Pâté: a liver pâté with less than 12% fat, a smooth texture and excellent mouth feel and flavour.  This recipe contains no added monosodium glutamate (MSG) and addresses the trend towards reduction of fat, while still offering the excellent sensorial properties consumers expect from pâté.
  • Marinated Chicken Wings: chicken wings with a rich and authentic Tex Mex taste, respond to the continuing consumer trend for genuine ethnic taste. The marinade is easy to pour and contains no added MSG.

Not available to taste:

  • Pepperoni topped pizza: a healthier pizza with reduced sodium and fat, cleaner ingredient declarations and fresher ingredients. These ingredients not only provide enhanced visual appearance but also add textural interest and authentic flavour. This product responds to the trends driving the market for convenience, variety, snacks, affordability and healthier products.
  • Meat and Vegetable Pastry Pie: a reduced fat pastry product with lower salt and a cleaner ingredient declaration, yet still delivering flavour, functionality and improved mouthfeel. This responds not only to the trend for healthier food but convenience, comfort eating, quality and affordability.

These concepts highlight how the company’s new ‘One Kerry’ approach provides unique benefits to food and beverage manufacturers. ‘One Kerry’ unites Kerry’s international ingredients, bio-science, sweet, fruit and flavours capabilities, under the theme: ‘where it all comes together’. This provides Kerry’s customers with a single point of access to the company’s industry-leading market applications expertise and broad technology base.

Karl Burkitt, Strategic Marketing Director for Kerry Ingredients & Flavours EMEA, explains: “This is a huge change in the way we work, but it is driven by our understanding that customers increasingly need to work this way for them to meet the needs of their markets and customers. It is all about delivering customer-focused innovation.

“The ‘One Kerry’ approach helps food and beverage manufacturers stay ahead of their competitors – an important consideration for manufacturers facing continual pressure to innovate more quickly, add value and cut costs. Our presence at IFFA this year will illustrate that ‘One Kerry’ can bring unique benefits to manufacturers.”

Collaboration is a crucial aspect of the ‘One Kerry’ approach. By unifying Kerry’s ingredients and application expertise in a highly tailored way, Kerry Ingredients & Flavours gets closer to individual customers, understanding their specific needs and working in partnership with them.

“By working with us, manufacturers can devote more of their energies to creative product development rather than focusing so much on individual ingredients,” continues Karl Burkitt. “They get the best of both worlds: local market knowledge and support, backed by the world’s widest range of technology solutions and a truly global supply chain.”

The Kerry Group is a worldwide €4.8bn business with over 20,000 employees including 500 food scientists and 26 technical centres, and a concentrated global supply chain. It has over 140 manufacturing facilities in 20 countries, and dedicated account teams for all EMEA territories.
